Here is a list with some of the must-see on the island. We encourage the guests in Porta del mar villas to leave their comment and share their experience on these nice places.
Zante is an island with a variety of beauties and sight-seeings worth to visit, yet not much tiring to go around, as within an hour and a half you can be anywhere in the island. Zante is a verdant island endowed with fertile valleys and a temperate climate. It’ s beauty was adored and hymned by the poets of the Renaissance. The landscape diversity has resulted in different types of beaches: on the southeastern part there are sandy beaches. Yet, if rugged cliffs and an interesting underwater world are to your liking, try the western part of the island.
Bohali is a picturesque region, located above Zante town, with beautiful views of the capital below, as well as across to the mountains of the Peloponnese in mainland Greece. There are many small villages in the region of Bohali, such as Akrotiri, Varres and Kryoneri – all of which are unspoilt, retaining their Greek feeling and impressive natural beauty. There are many out-door cafes in Bohali, ideal for a refreshing drink and a chance to enjoy the panoramic views.

The Askos Stone Park is located on the north of Zante, 1km from the port of St. Nicholas at Volimes.
It is a large area from which guests visit around the 1/5. The rest is used for grazing the animals, producing their food and cultivating many different fruit trees. Here, visitors can see all the flora and fauna of Zakynthos Island, about 200.000 plants, bushes and trees and hundreds of animals that live freely in their natural living conditions. The park’s area contains several stone structures, like old stables, basins cut into the rock for water collection that date back many centuries and a lot of constructions using stone and wood, in harmony with the natural environment.

The Blue Caves are located in the north of Zante and are one of the best known sights on the island. The unusual caves were discovered in 1897, with the largest cave being called Blue Grotto. In order to visit them you can hire a boat, or take a boat trip. The nearest point to the caves is the harbour of St.Nikolaos, near Volimes, but trips depart from many other points on the island. The colors of the waters in the caves are spectacular and have to be seen to be believed. The area is also ideal for snorkeling.
